What is the True Cost of Fashion?

The True Cost is a documentary about the clothes we wear, the people that make them, and the impact that the industry is having on the world that we live in. Have you ever wondered why clothing actually costs less then it did 20 years ago? How can we go to to the $2 tank top sale at Old Navy every summer, how does H&M offer bikini  top for just $4.99? I know many consumer just consider it a great deal and now skip the thrift stores or the garage sales, but  what is the True Cost of fast fashion? Watch this documentary and find out!
If haven’t viewed this film and you work in the fashion industry, or you teach fashion related courses this is a must see!  Of course any consumer would benefit from message this documentary has, because let’s face it we all wear clothes.
The True Cost moved me to  dig deeper into eco friendly and fair trade fashion and sustainable business practices, I think it may pick your interest as well. Afterall you found this blog because you are interested in becoming a conscious consumer.

Why I Love Sseko Designs

Have you heard of Sseko Designs? Wear Sseko, Send a Girl to College  If you haven't you must! This amazing company is an ethical fashion brand that hires high potential women in Uganda to make sandals. This work allows them to earn money through employment.
